What is Document Builder in Drawboard PDF?
Document Builder is an intuitive workspace in which you can manipulate your documents in various ways. You can:
How to merge multiple PDF documents
In the Windows app…
To merge PDF documents, from your dashboard, head to Document Builder. You can do this by either selecting Document builder from the options above your documents or by selecting the Document builder icon from the left of your top menu.
From Document Builder:
- Tap Open file and then select the files you wish to merge. You can combine as many PDF documents as you wish.
- Once you have added all of the documents you would like to merge, you can rearrange pages by dragging and dropping them.
- When you're done, tap Build.
Your pages will be saved as a new single PDF document.
Once added to Document Builder, multi-page documents will display the cover or first page only. To view all pages in a document tap the expand icon on the document you would like to expand. From this view you can drag and drop pages to rearrange your document pages or select one or more pages to then perform a host of actions including extract, delete and rearrange multiple pages at once.

How to rearrange the order of documents that are being merged
In the Windows app…
To rearrange the order of the documents that you want to combine, you can either
- Drag and drop your documents in the left hand side panel to rearrange the order of them
- Drag and drop documents from the Document builder workspace (the right side of your screen). To move an entire multi-page document, and not individual pages, your documents will need to be in the collapsed view.
Once you have rearranged your documents, tap Build.
How to rearrange PDF pages
In the Windows app…
To rearrange pages within a document or within documents that you are preparing to merge:
- Add your document to the Document Builder workspace. You can do this by either dragging and dropping your file into Document Builder or by tapping Open file and then selecting a document from file explorer.
- Expand your document to view all pages
- Select, hold and drag a page to a new position
- Then release
Once you have rearranged your pages, tap Build.
Note: You can move multiple pages to a new position within your document by selecting each page that you would like to move and then dragging them and placing them where you wish. When pages are selected, a green tick appears in the top left corner of the page and the page color will appear bolder.
How to split a PDF document
In the Windows app…
To split a PDF document in Drawboard PDF you can use the extract function.
- Add your document to the Document Builder workspace. You can do this by either dragging and dropping your file into Document Builder or by tapping Open file and then selecting a document from file explorer.
- From your Document Builder workspace, select the pages that you would like to split into a separate document.
- Tap Extract
- Save your document
Note: The original document that you have extracted pages from will still contain the pages that you have extracted. If you would like these pages to be removed from your original document, you can delete them by tapping the Delete Pages icon at the top of your Document Builder workspace and then selecting Build.

How to extract a single page from a PDF
In the Windows app…
To extract a single page from a document in Drawboard PDF, from the Document builder workspace
- Add your document to the Document Builder workspace. You can do this by either dragging and dropping your file into Document Builder or by tapping Open file and then selecting a document from file explorer.
- Select the page that you would like to extract
- Tap Extract
- Save as a new document
How to delete multiple PDF pages at once
In the Windows app…
To batch delete pages from a PDF document in Drawboard PDF:
- Add your document to the Document Builder workspace. You can do this by either dragging and dropping your file into Document Builder or by tapping Open file and then selecting a document from file explorer.
- Expand your document by tapping the Expand icon on your document. This will show all pages in your document
- Select the pages that you would like to delete
- Tap the Delete Pages icon at the top of your Document Builder workspace.
- Tap Build

How to duplicate PDF pages
In the Windows app…
To duplicate PDF pages:
- Add your document to the Document Builder workspace. You can do this by either dragging and dropping your file into Document Builder or by tapping Open file and then selecting a document from file explorer.
- Expand your document by tapping the Expand icon on your document. This will show all pages in your document
- Select the pages that you would like to duplicate. You can select as many pages as you wish
- Tap the Duplicate Pages icon at the top of your Document Builder workspace.
- Tap Build

How to rotate pages
In the Windows app...
To rotate pages in Document Builder:
- Select the page/s you would like to rotate
- Tap the left or right Rotate icon (left icon rotates pages anti-clockwise and right icon rotates pages clockwise)
