How to redact text on a document
Available on local documents on the Windows, iOS and macOS apps
From your canvas:
- Add Text redaction to your toolbar. To do this, tap the plus sign in your toolbar and search Text Redaction in the search bar.
- Select the text that you would like to redact. To do this, click, hold and drag the text
- Tap Proceed
You can toggle redaction preview on and off by tapping the eye symbol next to the Apply button after you have selected text or an area to redact. This preview enables you to see what your document will look like with your redactions prior to applying them.
How to redact a section of a PDF
- Add Redaction to your toolbar. To do this, tap the plus sign in your toolbar and search Redaction in the search bar.
- Click, hold and drag to select the area that you would like to redact. With the redaction tool, you can hover over text to enter Text Redaction mode.
- Tap Proceed
Redaction is permanent and irreversible. All content that is redacted from a document is permanently removed.
Tip: You can use the shortcut CTRL + r on Windows to enter redaction mode. From this state, you can hover over text to start redacting text or select any rectangle area on your PDF to redact whole sections of your PDF.
Note: The default color of your redacted area is black. To select a new color for your redaction area, select the Redaction tool from your tool bar and choose a color.
