Grids or lines can be added to a new document, a new page or added as an overlay to existing documents.
What is the difference between templates and overlays?
If you create a blank document with a grid or lined template, it will form part of the document and cannot be removed. When you add lines with an overlay they are not added to the document (for example if you print the document there will be no lines).
