The Markup toolbar offers users an intuitive, quick and easy way to access and use Drawboard PDF markup tools. Now available on the web app. All Drawboard PDF markup tools can be accessed via the Markup toolbar at the top of the canvas as well as via Favorites.

How to access tools via the Markup toolbar
All Drawboard PDF tools can be found in the Markup toolbar. Pan and Select tools can be seen and selected at any time from the Markup toolbar and all other tools can be accessed via the tool categories Free-form, Shapes, Review, Measure and Insert.
- Free-form - includes Pen and Highlighter tools
- Shape - includes Line, Arrow, Polyline, Rectangle, Ellipse, Polygon and Cloud tools
- Review - includes Text, Callout, Text highlight, Underline, Squiggle, Strikethrough tools
- Measure - includes Measure Length, Poly length, Polygon area, Rectangle area, Calibrate tools
- Insert - includes Image, Bookmark, Hyperlink, Signature tools
Set the properties of a tool
Users can set the properties of their tools including color, thickness, opacity and more. The Markup toolbar offers a few preset properties to help users work faster. Easily select from the color and thickness presets or choose from options by opening the full color set or thickness dropdown. To access more properties, open the tool properties.
Access more tool properties
To access all properties for a tool, ensure that the tool is selected and then tap the 3 dots in the Markup toolbar.
How to add a tool to Favorites
Users can add their most used tools to Favorites.
To add a tool to Favorites via the Markup toolbar:
- Select the tool that you would like to add
- Tap the Add to favorites icon.
Users can also add a tool to their Favorites by tapping the plus icon on the Favorites bar and then selecting the tool they would like to add.
How to hide/show the Favorites bar
Tap the Favorites bar icon to the right of the Markup toolbar.
Users can also hide the Favorites bar and the Markup toolbar by tapping the tools icon near the bottom of the left hand side menu.
Change viewing modes for the Markup toolbar
There are two main viewing modes for the Markup toolbar: 1 bar mode and 2 bar mode.

1 bar mode
All tools can be accessed conveniently from one toolbar layer. Perfect for maximizing visibility on the canvas.
To access tools in this mode, select between the tool category icons.

2 bar mode
Tools can be accessed from a 2 layer toolbar. In this mode, users can see the tool category labels at all times.
To show/hide the Markup toolbar
Tap the tools icon near the bottom of the left hand side menu and then toggle on/off Standard Tools.
FAQs
Can I still use Favorites?
Yes. You can show and hide the favorites toolbar by tapping the favorites toolbar icon at the right of the Markup toolbar or by tapping the tools icon near the bottom of the left hand side menu.
Can I add tools to the Markup toolbar?
The Markup toolbar is designed for one-time use of each tool. While you can't add additional tools to the Markup toolbar, you can add tools to your favorites toolbar. Users on Drawboard PDF Pro can add unlimited tools to their favorites toolbar while users on Drawboard PDF Basic can add 7 tools.
