Drawboard PDF works with all pens/devices that work with Windows, including mice too, although it might not feel as intuitive with mice as we've made this app with the pen in mind.
This applies for all pens and pointing devices for Windows including:
- Wacom(an option for those computers without touch screens)
All non-Microsoft/3rd-party pens/mice work just as well with Drawboard PDF as long as device capability is ensured(eg. don't expect a capacitive pen to have pressure sensitivity). We don't have a preference for any device in particular however the Microsoft Surface Pro series and their accompanying pens have shown to have the least amount of issues.
Problem Solving FAQ
Why does my pen not work with my other touchscreen devices?
The most pens for touchscreens are made for their specific devices. For example, it is not expected that a Microsoft Surface Pen will work on a Lenovo/dell laptop or phone touchscreen.
My pen used to work but doesn't on Drawboard anymore
Double check/reinstall your pen's software drivers. There is a known driver issue for Lenovo pens where a driver reinstall fixes this.
My pen's other end/tip/tail can usually erase on other devices, it can't on Drawboard
In most cases a driver reinstall will solve this issue, we call on Window's Pen functions so if it doesn't work on us, it shouldn't work on other apps too.
My pen moves the screen instead of draw
Your stylus could be a capacitive stylus(simulates finger touch) vs a stylus built for the device, which can easily be solved by clicking this "Use finger to draw" button here found just above the settings icon. Your experience will not be as intuitive without a device specific pen though.
